Sagami Rubber Industries Co., Ltd. was founded in 1934. It was the first condom manufacturer in Japan and first condom manufacturer in the world to release coloured and dotted condoms. In 1998, Sagami created a condom made from polyurethane called the "Sagami Original". In 2004, Sagami invented a PU condom with just 28 microns – the "Sagami Original 0.02" and in 2013 launched an even thinner "Sagami Original 0.01" with merely 18 microns.
